Takeout During Corona?

During COVID-19, there has been the ongoing question: is it okay to eat out?

Well today, my family and I decided to just go for it. We haven’t eaten out in around 3 months, and we figured that we probably weren’t going to get a chance to eat out again. So, we decided to order some Cheesecake Factory. We got the Chicken Bellagio, the Orange Chicken, the Chicken Pot Stickers, and a kids pizza with bacon on top.

When the food arrived, my parents decided to stick it all in the oven to try and kill all of the possible germs on it. This made the food taste a little different than usual, but it had the same overall taste.

So, my answer to this ongoing question, would be to pace yourself. If you want to eat out once a month, go for it. But I wouldn’t do it excessively so that you can prevent getting sick.

Review: Chick-Fil-A

AKT Rating: 3 WOWS!!!

Yesterday, while on the road with my family, my Dad insisted that we try Chick-Fil-A for the first time. Now, I knew that Chick-Fil-A had been getting a lot of hype in the past year, but I had never tried it. So, I figured that this was my opportunity to figure out what the hype was all about.

So, after we ordered takeout, and we began to eat, I realized that Chick-Fil-A really isn’t all that. Though the chicken strips there aren’t actually that bad, the foods that incorporate the chicken with other ingredients, for example the spicy chicken sandwich, could’ve been executed a little better, and could’ve tasted a little better too. Also, I wasn’t a huge fan of their waffle fries, or their mac’n cheese. I thought the whole things was average or below average in terms of taste and presentation. Overall, I thought there were also WAY too many pickles! In every sandwich there were pickles. And for a non-pickle-lover like me, it’s not the most convenient. In conclusion, I probably wouldn’t eat there again, unless it was a dire emergency.

Review: Against the Grain (Urban Tavern)

AKT Rating: 3 WOWS!!!

Before our plans to meet my aunt and cousin at Ripley’s Aquarium Downtown, Toronto, we ate at a tavern called Against the Grain. Though this elite tavern had food that was more than amazing, and music that was perfect for almost all occasions, there was a slight problem with my sister’s kids’ meal: a pan of nachos. I had ordered the adult plate of nachos, and was happily munching along, as I started to hear my sister crying. Confused, I looked at her, and she was complaining that hers was spicy. After popping one of her chips into my mouth, I realized that hers was spicy. My mom immediately took action and talked to the waitress about the spiciness of the nachos, and we discovered that there was some spicy powder that was put on her nachos! Aside from the disastrous kids’ meal nachos, I thoroughly enjoyed my meal. I had ordered the Loaded Sheet Pan Nachos without lettuce, jalapeno on the side, pico de gallo, black beans, pickled onion, an jalapeno lime crema. My grandma had ordered the Coconut Shrimp, and my mom ordered the Naan Chicken Club. I thoroughly enjoyed my food, and it looked as if so did my mom and grandmother. If you didn’t count my sister’s meal, the food was absolutely delicious, and I would definitely go back a second time.

Review: Goody’s Burger House

AKT Review: 5 WOWS!

While I was in Athens, Greece, I went shopping with my aunt at the huge, luxurious, and foodie-friendly mall. After lots and lots of shopping, we eventually decided to get something to eat. First, we decided to stop off at Goody’s. Goody’s is a burger house (probably one of the best) only in Greece. When I went, I ordered the Extreme Club Crispy. And when it says extreme, it literally means: EXTREME. It was basically a jumbo platter with delicious club sandwiches and a butt load of fries. But boy! Was it delicious. I ended up having to give away 2 of the sandwiches because that platter was way too big for me to eat all by myself. The sandwiches had inside crispy fried chicken, lettuce, tomato, sauce (which I’m assuming was mayo), and bacon. and, it was a two layer sandwich, which means that there were three slices of bread, and twice the amount of fillings! And all of this was held together by one measly toothpick. As a refreshment, I got some Sprite.

Review: P.F. Chang

AKT Rating: 4 WOWS!

Today, I went to P.F. Chang. One of the most delicious Chinese places EVER! My favorite item that we ordered had to be, the Honey Crispy Chicken. I’m being a bit honest with you, that the first bite you will ever take, is, kinda weird. It’s sweet, but REALLY spicy, and hot in temperature, let me slow down here.

First of all, it’s really sweet. I am personally not a honey lover, but, I have to admit, this was IT. It was like, the ultimate honey meal. It had honey in it, but it didn’t taste like it did, but it DID, and it was sweet, and nice, and sooooo amazing. But, all of this nonsense is only to be understood if you’re like me. The kind of person that believes that there are TONS of emotions packed into just one teeny plate of food. But, for the average human, who wouldn’t understand what it’s like to have opposites in the same food, here’s the explanation: there’s a lot of sweet flavors in this meal, and that just makes it what it is.

Next, It’s spicy. The first bite, you feel: O.M.G this is sooooooo hot! and: wow, this is soooooo good! So, I’m not sure how to explain this one. But, all I can say, is that, it’s absolutely amazing, and not that good for those who aren’t in love with spice.

As delicious as this is, you might want to slow down your inner sloppy eating pig, and wait a couple minutes for this to cool, because all these flavors and temperatures are kinda a lot for your tiny taste buds to handle. (and trust me, i know how it feels to have to wait when you’re inner sloppy eating pig just wants to dig into that good looking, mouth watering grub.

So, I hope this hasn’t been put on your “read later” list, (I’m very sorry if it has). But, I really hope that you check out P.F. Chang. Because, it. Is. Off. The. HOOK!
